Academy Looses Credibility
Today the OSCARS or the Academy Awards have lost all credibility in awarding. They have shown homophobia is okay. Their presenter cracked a million puns at gay people and Brokeback Mountain.
It goes to show that the Academy and perhaps America is not over Racism, in awarding Best Picture to Crash, a film about racism in Los Angelos. They don't take homosexual issues, or the importance of Brokeback Mountain seriously. Brokeback Mountain was the highest grossing nominated film for Best Picture and won both Golden Globe and BAFTA award for best picture.
Obviously, discrimination is deep in America. The culture has and continues to spawn this ill regard for others that don't fit your definition of life or beliefs. Though Crash may have been intesting, it was a poor film, without the excellence of directing or quality. It dealt with a rather old subject matter, something I find disgusted that is still a problem. It is no wonder that some Americans can't move on to deal with discrimination against homosexauls when they still discriminate against hispanics and african americans.
Watching portions of the Academy, espeically the opening sequence, I was offended at the jokes at our expense. There was no thought about sensitivity. Surely, if such jokes had been offered about african americans or hispanics, there would be riots in Hollywood tonight.
